We present in this work a review of the work of José Carlos Mancha Castro (2021): La Semana Santa de Huelva. Meanings, instrumentalizations and rituality. Although one might think that it is a hackneyed topic as far as anthropological research is concerned, this book shows us otherwise. The author presents us with a case study of Holy Week in Huelva from a novel and daring approach, through which he obtains interesting results.
Mancha, shows us Holy Week as a festival of the people and as a liturgical ceremony for which different ideological discourses have paraded and on which there are multiple and different meanings, among which religious, identity, ecological, economic , sensual, emotional, aesthetic and sensory, the urban ritual, and some meanings of sex-gender and political-ideological.
