This volume offers an interesting overview of the social studies on consumption produced in our context, based on a pluralist and cognitive methodological approach that is very useful for the analysis of social practices of consumption. It is organised into five sections divided into twenty-six chapters. The first one deals with the process of development of the consumer society in Spain, as well as its conformation into an object of sociological study and the development of methodological tools for its analysis. The second section carries out a theoretical-paradigmatic analysis of the classical and contemporary approaches to consumer analysis. The next three blocks show different empirical analyses of the changes in the forms of consumption caused by the economic crisis, the relationships between consumption processes and cultural practices.
