Argumentaciones y evidencias en el debate sobre rebajar a 16 años la edad mínima para votar

Este artículo explora algunas de las argumentaciones y evidencias empíricas acerca de cuestiones que circulan en el debate sobre rebajar a 16 años la edad mínima para votar. Se ha llevado a cabo una revisión bibliográfica narrativa de ensayos e investigaciones realizadas en países donde está reconocido total o parcialmente este derecho electoral y se ha complementado con un análisis estadístico de opiniones políticas en España. Desde la filosofía política o la sociología de la infancia se argumenta en favor de reducir aún más la edad del voto. De la investigación empírica se concluye que las personas adolescentes son capaces de tomar decisiones políticas y que esta medida electoral podría aumentar su interés por la política, la participación electoral a medio plazo o la confianza en la democracia. Sin embargo, la población española adulta y joven sigue mostrándose reacia a la ampliación del derecho al voto.
