Digital archives preservation policy

In our digital preservation policy, which we review periodically, we carry out processes to guarantee the permanent accessibility of digital objects: backup copies, monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate migrations of obsolete formats or software, assignment of digital preservation metadata, use of persistent digital identifiers, etc.

CENTRA Social Sciences Journal is part of the PKP PN (Public Knowledge Foundation Preservation Network) which provides free digital preservation services to any journal that uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) software and meets the basic criteria. Thus, a decentralised archiving system is generated, distributed among collaborating libraries, to create permanent archives of the journal to preserve the original contents and restore them if necessary.

The digital files are archived thanks to the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) programme. The archived issues can be consulted in the LOCKSS Editorial Manifesto: https://centracs.es/revista/gateway/lockss

OJS also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which is based on the open source LOCKSS software developed at Stanford University Library that allows participating libraries to regularly check registered journal websites for recently published content. Each file is constantly validated against other library caches and, if it is detected that content has been corrupted or lost, the other caches are used to restore it. CLOCKSS stores and distributes journal content to participating libraries as can be seen at: https://centracs.es/revista/gateway/clockss

The journal is also indexed in the Keepers Registry: https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/2951-8156
